DNR… La prima visual band in Italia!

Molti si chiederanno cos'è una visual band? Il visual Kei o stile visuale, è un sottogenere musicale giapponese del j- rock (Japanese Rock), che si è sviluppato negli anni ottanta, ma che ha raggiunto la sua maturità, specie in Europa e  occidente, negli anni novanta, le band visual kei si distinguono per la grande teatralità ed attenzione all'aspetto visivo e scenografico (costumi, scenografie, pose, trucco, comportamento), mentre musicalmente non c'è nessuna caratterizzazione specifica... il visual è l'unico genere musicale che non si caratterizza per il sound, ma per il look.

Negli ultimi anni questo stile sta travolgendo i giovani europei grazie alla nota band tedesca Cinema Bizarre, ed ora anche in Italia ecco arrivare la prima Visual band: i DNR!

I DNR sono:  MANTIS voce, SIEG chitarra, KIRA basso, ASH batteria e DELORD tastiera.  Nel 2005 il Bassista "Kira", fortemente influenzato dalla scena Visual Kei e J-rock Giapponese, redige un progetto che ha come scopo la fusione della melodia Orientale al Groove Occidentale, l'obiettivo della band è trovare una giusta dimensione tra i 2 mondi, il progetto sarà battezzato col nome "DNR".

Da subito sposano la causa Ash e Sieg (ex compagni di viaggio di altre bands stile Hard Rock made in USA), la base del sound DNR era pronta, ma ci vorranno 2 anni di provini estenuanti per riuscire a reclutare un cantante all'altezza delle aspettative del trio.

Nell'estate 2007 troveranno in Mantis il giusto timbro romantico ed aggressivo che li rappresenta. A questo punto, invece di arruolare un secondo chitarrista come da prassi consolidata di bands "tipo", si opta per un quinto elemento con studi di Piano jazz , al fine di portare classe e raffinatezza al sound e sostegno ai Riffs chitarristici di Sieg; con l'arrivo di DeLord a novembre 2007, la formazione si chiude.

I DNR sono : Kira , Ash ,Sieg, Mantis e De Lord, la prima Visual Band in Italia.

1- Break Out and live: Introdotta dal pianoforte, pezzo si evolve subito mostrando la vena + metal. Bello questo alternare di suoni tipici del metal con altri momenti + melodici.  Voce calda è profonda.

1- Follow me: L'effetto vinile iniziale è figo. Chitarre quasi crossover, mescolate all'atmosfera elettronica. La voce è profonda, in contrasto con le tastiere dai suoni dolci, quasi angeliche, che a tratti diventano psichedeliche.

Meglio la versione normale che quella remix, perché è un pezzo di 5 minuti e passa, un po' lunghino, si poteva accorciare.

1. Ragazzi, cosa vi ha portato a seguire lo stile visual kei?   
 
Siamo stati calamitati nel mondo Visual, il Visual Kei è una passione oltre che un genere musicale, significa dare tutto alla musica: suono ed  immagine, anima e corpo.L'immagine per noi è importante esattamente quanto la musica; la viviamo come un canale che completa il messaggio, proprio come le bands Visual Kei Giapponesi dalle quali prendiamo ispirazione.Con l'immagine catturiamo l'attenzione e con la musica il cuore.

2. Ci sono delle band che hanno influenzato particolarmente la vostra formazione?

Dal Visual Kei:  X Japan, L'Arc en Ciel, Dir en Grey, GazettE, Malice Mizer, Alice 9Janne da  Arc...Alle bands occidentali come : Motley Crue , Stryper, Bon Jovi,Kiss ma anche attuali come 30 seconds to Mars, Him o Cinema Bizarre...la lista sarebbe infinita!

3. Cosa ne pensate dei Cinema Bizarre? Stanno avendo un grande successo in Italia ed in Europa...

Ottima band!  Sound molto interessante , il motto è Style is war! Hanno ragione davvero!

4. Cos'è nella vostra vita il visual kei? Vi vestite e vi truccate così anche nella quotidianità?

Dipende dalle situazioni, qualche volta sì, certo non andiamo a fare la spesa così , ma siamo tutti artisti un po' eccentrici, quindi è inevitabile non passare inosservati!

5. Cosa ne pensano le vostre famiglie di questo progetto?

Sono tutti entusiasti! Qualche volta vengono anche ai concerti e si mimetizzano tra il pubblico.

6. DNR è il nome della vostra band... qual è il significato di questo nome?

DNR vuol dire Do-not-reanimate,  noi l'interpretiamo come la volontà di non esser svegliati dal nostro sogno musicale.Qualcuno vocifera Ducati n Roll, data la nostra passione per le moto e musica, in un certo senso sono vere entrambe le definizioni!

7. Chi di voi scrive i testi delle canzoni e chi si occupa della musica?  

Tutta la band è attiva sul fattore composizione.A volte partiamo dall' idea di un singolo elemento per sviluppare il pezzo; non ci sono limiti all'interno della band, il momento creativo è un processo naturale per i DNR .

8. La vostra Band si sta facendo conoscere pian piano grazie ad internet, cosa ne pensate dei vostri fan del web?

Internet è un mezzo potentissimo, la nostra musica è arrivata dove noi non siamo ancora stati fisicamente, e speriamo di rimediare con dei Tour al più presto. In brevissimo tempo abbiamo collezionato Fan-forum e Myspace-supporter in tutte le parti del mondo. Sembra incredibile che persone in America, Russia, Giappone, Germania, Francia  ecc. cantino le nostre canzoni, sappiano i nostri nomi! Tutto ciò ci regala grandi emozioni ed un'immensa soddisfazione,  i fan sono meravigliosi, sono loro il motore che fa girare i DNR.

9. La vostra band ha un motto o comunque una frase o un pensiero che vi accompagna in questo    viaggio? Avete qualche rito scaramantico? 

Due minuti prima di salire sul palco ci raccogliamo in cerchio ed esclamiamo .... meglio non scriverlo va!!

10. Vi occupate da soli del vostro look?

Abbiamo uno staff preparatissimo in materia, una hairstylist straordinaria "Christina Creazy Head",  un truccatore "Daniel" ed una fotografa "Shiyun Lee",  che dietro alle quinte , insieme ai tecnici di luce, palco, suono  rendono gli show dei DNR possibili.

11. Ultima domanda di rito: quali sono i vostri progetti per il futuro? 

I DNR stanno vivendo un periodo molto fertile, abbiamo moltissime idee in cantiere, ad esempi  é appena uscito  il nostro primo singolo : "Visual Evolution".Prodotto da Miraloop Hearts, la netlabel della casa discografica Miraloop dedicata al rock ed al pop, il nostro singolo è in vendita esclusivamente in digitale in tutti i maggiori shop online, a partire da iTunes.
Anticipiamo che nel nostro futuro prossimo è prevista un' altra uscita sempre per Miraloop ed un ambizioso progetto per un tour che ci vedrà in giro per l'Europa, nella speranza di poter suonare in tutti quei paesi dove sono nati i nostri team supporter.>>

In conclusione posso dire che questa band ha davvero talento, e che questi ragazzi poco più che ventenni promettono davvero bene.

Many people will wonder what is a visual band? Visual Kei is a subgenus musical of the j-rock (Japanese Rock), which was developed in the eighties, but that has reached its maturity, especially in Europe and in the West in the nineties, the visual bands are distinguished from the great theatricality and attention to the visual appearance and dramatic (costumes, scenery, positions, makeup, behavior).
While musically there is not specific characterization ... the visual is the only musical genre that is not characterized from the sound, but for the look.

In recent years, this style involving the young Europeans thanks to the note German band Cinema Bizarre, and now even here in Italy to get the first Visual band: the DNR!

DNR are: MANTIS  Vocals, SIEG  Guitar, KIRA  Bass, ASH Drums, DELORD Keyboard. In 2005 the bass-player "Kira", strongly influenced by the Visual Kei scene and by Japanese Jrock, draw up a project which has the fusion of Oriental melody and Occidental Groove as target, the band's purpose is to find the right dimension between these two worlds, and will be called "DNR".

Immediately Ash and Sieg (ex members of other Hard Rock made in USA bands) enter the project: the base of DNR' sound was ready, but it will take 2 years of exhausting casting session to recruit a singer to expectations of the trio.

In summer 2007, they will find in Mantis the right romantic and aggressive tone that represents the band. Now, instead of hiring another guitarist, as standard rock bands usually do, DNR opt for a 5th element with knowledge of Jazz Piano, with the intention to bring style and niceness to the sound and support to Sieg's guitar Riffs; with the arrival of DeLord on november 2007 the formation was completed.

DNR are: Kira, Ash, Sieg, Mantis and DeLord, the first italian Visual Band.

1- Break Out and live: Introduced from the piano, the piece evolving immediately showing the vein more metal. Beautiful this switch of typical sounds of metal with more melodic moments. Voice warm and deep.

2- Follow me: The initial vinyl effect  is very cool. Guitars almost crossover, mixed at the electronic atmosphere .  The voice is deep, in contrast with the keyboard sounds sweet, almost angelic, which sometimes become psychedelic.

Better  the normal version that the remix, because it is a piece of 5 minutes and beyond, too long, could be shorter.

1. Guys, what led you to follow the style visual kei?

We were attracted in the world Visual, the Visual Kei is a passion as well as a musical genre, it means giving everything to music: sound and image, soul and body. The image is important for us exactly as music, and we live as a channel that complete the message, just like Visual Kei Japanese bands from which we take inspiration.

2. There are bands that have particularly influenced your training?

From Visual Kei: X Japan, L'Arc en Ciel, Dir en Grey, GazettE, Malice Mizer, Alice 9Janne  Arc... At Western bands such as: Motley Crue , Stryper, Bon Jovi,Kiss as well as the current 30 seconds to Mars, or Cinema Bizarre Him ... the list would be endless!

3. What do you think about Cinema Bizarre? they are having great success in Italy and in Europe now...

Excellent band! Sound very interesting, the motto is Style is war! They are right really!

4. What is in your life the visual kei? You dressed and rigged in this way also in everyday life?

It depends on situations, sometimes yes, we certainly do not go shopping so, but we are all somewhat artists  eccentric, so it is inevitable not go unnoticed!

5. What think your family about this project?

They are all excited! Sometimes they are also concerts and they camouflaged among the public.

6. DNR is the name of your band ... what is the meaning of this name?

DNR mean Do-not-reanimate, we interpret as the desire not to be awakened from our musical dream.

Someone says Ducati n Roll, because of our passion for music and moto in a sense both are true definitions!

7. Who is of you that write the text of the songs and who is responsible of the music?

The whole band is active on the composition factor.

Sometimes we start from the idea of a single element to develop the piece, there are not limits within the band, the creative moment is a natural process for DNR.

8. Your Band is being done to know slowly through the Internet, what do you think of your fans of the web?

The Internet is powerful half, our music has arrived where we are not yet physically, and we hope to remedy with the Tour as soon as possible.

9. Your band have a motto or a phrase or a thought that accompanies you on this trip? Do you have any special rite?

Two minutes before getting on stage we gather in a circle and we exclaim .... better not write it  ;P!

10. Everyone thinks alone at own look?

We have a staff trained in the field, a hairstylist extraordinary "Christina CREAZY Head", a make-up "Daniel" and a photographer "Shiyun Lee", that behind the fifth, along with technical lighting, stage, sound make the show possible of DNR.

11. The last rite's question: What is your project for the future?

The DNR are living a very fertile period, we have many ideas in the pipeline, for example it was just released our first single: "Visual Evolution".
Produced by Miraloop Hearts, the netlabel the record company Miraloop devoted to rock and pop, our single is on sale exclusively in digital in all major shop online, starting from iTunes. We anticipate that in the near future there is always another exit for Miraloop and an ambitious project for a tour that will see us around Europe, hoping to be able to play in all those countries where they are born our team supporter.

In conclusion I can say that this band is really talented, and that these guys little more than twenties promised really well.
